The Martian MOD

When Mars had an atmosphere it may have been inhabited....

Mars became so rich that it began to be subject to raids from it's less then frendly inter-galatic neighbours. It was at this point that the Martian authorities formed the Martian Ministry of Defence. Starting with a fleet of Martian Fighter Engines (which is why the Bays are marked MFE XX) they started to resist the attacks. To prevent future stronger attacks they built up their defences so strongly eventually a complete ring was built around the planet edged with ION cannons. Not only was this used for defence though scientists and other personal could work and even live in the inner ring. Gravity is also provided to the personal so they can leave normal lives. The ultimate defence came in the form with a huge Battle Cruiser that featured muttiple, deadly cannons.

For reference to those of us who are clinnicly insane the previous paragraph is fiction.
